As we count the hours remaining to usher the New Year, Palestinians in Gaza are counting the bombs falling in their neighborhoods and on their loved ones. The MAH -like other Muslim, Jewish and Christian organizations, and all people of conscience, condemn in the strongest possible term, the Israeli civilian carnage, the disproportionate violence, and the indiscriminate and collective punishment imposed on all the population of Gaza. We also condemn the ongoing Israeli blockade of humanitarian aid.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2008, the Muslim community in Hawaii will celebrate the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan with communal prayers at the Manoa Park starting at 8:45am (directions to the park & Eid program are available at www.iio.org). Ramadan is the month on the Islamic lunar calendar during which Muslims abstain from food, drinks and other sensual pleasures from break of dawn to sunset.

The Muslim Association of Hawaii today called on all of the Muslims in Hawaii and other people of conscience to help the victims of the massive earthquake in South Asia.

The Muslim Association of Hawaii has setup a donation site at http://www.iio.org to accept donations to be turned over to relief organization on behalf of the people of Hawaii.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/27/05) - On Thursday, July 28, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will hold a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to release a fatwa (Islamic religious ruling) against terrorism and extremism. The fatwa is being issued by the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and endorsed by major U.S. Muslim groups.

Hawaii Muslims join our fellow Americans of all faiths, and all people of conscience worldwide, in condemning these barbaric crimes that can never be justified or excused. American Muslims offer their sincere condolences to the loved ones of those who were killed or injured in today's attacks and call for the swift apprehension and punishment of the perpetrators.

Hawaii Muslims, like our fellow Americans, are deeply shocked, hurt and outraged about the latest admission by the pentagon of the mistreatment of the Holy Qur’an. These widespread violations in U.S. detention facilities worldwide is a disgrace to us as Americans, and we call on everyone to condemn such horrible acts as it goes against the grain of American pluralism and indeed the American spirit of respect for all.

The murder of the American engineer Paul Johnson is a depraved, barbaric, brutal, un-Islamic and Un-human act, which is outside the purview of Islamic practice and teachings. Muslims, Arab and Western specialists on Islam, unanimously condemn such crimes as totally out of line from the Islamic tradition.

Hawaii Muslims, watched in Horror the terrorists shouting "God is great," as they decapitated the American hostage Nicholas Berg. This barbaric, brutal and cold-blooded murder is satanic, un-Islamic, Un-religious and Un-human. Muslims in Hawaii join other Muslims around the world in condemning such action in the strongest possible terms. This cold-blooded murder was committed supposedly in the name of Islam whose basic tenants stand for peace, love and forgiveness. We strongly reject all those who commit such acts of mindless violence in the name of religion.
