2020.05.23 eid festivities not being held by the Muslim Association of Hawaii

posted May 24, 2020, 3:55 AM by Shereen El-Kadi
We have received notice with regards to an event currently planned for tomorrow. This event is NOT endorsed by the Muslim Association of Hawaii (MAH). As we understand it, this event is in violation of the City & County of Honolulu proclamation prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 people, along with the current stay-at-home order. Keeping this proclamation in mind, MAH has not planned any eid festivities. While we are social creatures and miss one another, and we also want to be able to celebrate our eid and make our children happy, we also have a responsibility to represent Muslims positively as law-abiding citizens. Anyone attending such events is doing so at their own risk of violating the stay-at-home order.
