2020.05.22 Eid update

posted May 22, 2020, 4:39 PM by Shereen El-Kadi   [ updated May 22, 2020, 4:58 PM ]
As-salamu alaikum dear brothers & sisters,

As we do every year, a few teams will be posted at different locations across the island with the task of sighting the moon. The state of Hawaii Muslim community has not yet declared when Eid will be, and we will wait, as we do every year, until we hear back from the sighting teams.

Hawai’i Muslims do not follow any country. Rather, we follow the sunnah of our beloved Prophet (SWS). Although it is a small chance, we have an opportunity to sight the moon.

So please disregard information transmitted by any unofficial individuals who follow other countries, as such behavior causes fitna and division within communities. We will provide an update as soon as we hear from the teams tasked with sighting of the moon. Of course, if we sight the moon tonight, Eid will be tomorrow. Otherwise, Eid will be Sunday. We will post the update after sunset, inshaAllah. Jazak Allah khair and may Allah accept your worship.
