Khutbah Delivered on Eid ul-Fitr 1421

Islam on OahuAs Salaam Wa Alaikum, Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuhu. Indeed All praise is due to Allah (SWAWJ). We thank Him and in Him we seek His forgiveness. We seek the refuge with Allah, the creator of the Heavens and the earth, from the mischiefness of our souls and wrong doings of all of our actions and deeds. Whomever Allah (TA) guides no one can lead him astray. And whomever Allah (TA) leaves to be left astray no one can guide him except by the will and permission of Allah. I publicly bare witness without any compulsion or cohersion what so ever that, there is nothing worthy of worship as a except Allah, He is alone, and He has no partners. And I publicly bear witness that Muhammad Ibin Abdullah, (sullallahu alayhi wa Allah allahee wa sullem) is His Rahsool, His Abd, and His Nabiy (his messenger, His slave and the Seal of the Prophets. As to what follows…truly the best speech is the book of Allah, Al-Qur’an, Al-Majeed (the Majestic Qur’an). And the best of guidance is the Sunnah of Muhammad (saw). And the worst of all things in this life, in this Dunya as related to our Deen are newly invented matters. For every newly invented matter as related to our Deen is an occursed and wretched innovation, and every innovation is an astray and every astray is in the hellfire. After thanking and praising Allah and sending Salatul Salaams on His Prophet Muhammad (saw). I ask of Allah to forgive us of our sins and grant us good in this Dunya and the ahkyrah (the hereafter) ….ameen
Brothers and Sisters, Allah (AWJ) has graced the Muslims two complete 30 days of Fasting…Allahu-Akbar. We have completed these 30 days in full and now we are anxious to receive the Niymah (the bounty), for what we have done. We ask Allah (SWA) to accept from us our Niyat (our intentions) for the month of Ramadan. We ask of Allah (TA) to accept all our salawat, in the daytime and the night. We ask of Allah (TA) after completing this great month to accept all of acts of Charity, the saddaqa and every good act that we did even if it was only a smile to our brother or sister. We ask of Allah (SWA) to accept everything that we wanted to do of good that we didn’t do, those deeds that we didn’t get a chance to do.

Insha-Alllah we will see these things with Allah (TA), as Allah says in Qur’an. Bismillahi Rahman Nir Raheem…(in the interpretation of the meaning) "…(He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allâh" and the meaning of this english translation "Magnify" is to say Takbîr (Allâhu-Akbar, Allâhu-Akbar, Allâhu-Akbar. La Ilaha Illallah, Allâhu-Akbar, Allâhu-Akbar, Wa lillah il Hamd) and the Ayah goes on to say… "that you must magnify Allah on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadân and Shawwâl for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him". (Surah Al-Baqara ayah 185).

We must be thankful to Allah (awj) because is it only from Allah that He allowed us to complete the fast…Al-humdullillah. Brothers and Sisters in being thankful to Allah (TA) and asking for His forgiveness, we must at the same time ask Allah for Guidance. My dear brothers and sisters in Islam the Ummah, not just here in Hawaii, but all over the world has fallen into a great, great, problem. The Ummah has been plagued with the disease of Muslims not following the Deen as given to us by Allah and in the example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). We the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (saw) that is so far behind the Ummah of His time need to have a Renaissance in our Deen, we need to go back…and to put it in simple terms…We need to "Return to the Deen".

As we gather here today Brothers and Sisters, and as so many other Muslims around the world will gather, we come to rejoice and be thankful to Allah for not only this day of Eid but also for our creation and making us Muslim. Allah (swt) says in Qur’an, (in interpretation of the meaning) the English translation…Bismillahi Rahman Nir Raheem. "O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honorable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [or who is one of the Muttaqûn (pious). Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Sura Ayah 13 Al-Hujurât)

Brothers and Sisters you have to ask yourself in your heart…Are you one of the Muttaqun? With the state that the Ummah is in today (not just here in Hawaii) but all over the world, we have to ask ourselves that question. We the Muslims of today are living in a Jahiliyah state and state of mind. And this is even though we may have predominately Islamic Muslim countries. But even with these predominately Islamic Countries, they are themselves in a state of Jahiliy, and why are they Jahiliy? Because anything that is 99% Islam and 1% Kufr, 1% shirk, 1% Biddah is not Islamic. It has to be 100% Islam in order for it to be considered Islamic. This is just one of the diseases plaguing the Ummah and one of many reasons why we have to return to the dean. And brothers and sisters the difference between us and the people of the past is that the Jahiliyah is much greater and much more intense nowadays.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in an authenitic Hadith. "The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish". Someone then asked the Prophet (SAW), Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? He replied: "No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be foam and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent (or river), and Allah will take the fear of you from the breasts (or hearts) of your enemy and place ‘Al-Wahn’ into your hearts. Someone asked: What is Al-Wahn (enervation). The Messenger of Allah (saw) replied, "Love of this Dunya (this world) and dislike of death". (Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4284 Narrated by Thawban)

Brothers and Sisters this is a big disease now, the love of the Dunya and the Dislike of Death. The Muslim nowadays seem to or give the appearance of Loving the Dunya more than they do the hereafter. And this is part of the cause of all disobedience and afflictions that the Muslims have been plagued with. We have become greedy in some aspects of our lives and we only want to please this Nuffs (our ownself). We have become Greedy and so anxious for wealth that we have taken on the characteristics of the Ya’hood (Jews). A charateristic described in Qu’ran (Surat Al-Baqarah ayah 96). Bismillahi Rahman Ni Rahim., in interpretation of the meaning the English translation… "And verily, you will find them (the Jews) the greediest of mankind for life and (even greedier) than those who ascribe partners to Allâh (such as the pagans, and idolaters, etc.)"

And now today brothers and sisters we have taken on this same quality. We the Muslims of today are greedy, we want everything we can see with our eyes, everything we hear with our ears, the latest this and the latest that. DUNYA! DUNYA! DUNYA! We hold on to things in this Dunya that won’t give us any benefit whatsoever in the next life. And it doesn’t make any difference what type of Dunya it is, it can be the good or bad.

We need to return to the Deen.

Brothers and Sisters we the Muslims of Today are falling into same ways and morals of those who were destroyed before us. We the ummah of today now make what is Haram Hallal, we make what is unlawful lawful. And we were warned about this by our beloved Prophet (SAW), in which he said… "Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection, and be on your guard against petty-mindedness for petty-mindedness destroyed those who were before you, as it incited them to shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them". (Sahih Muslim Hadith Hadith 6248 Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah)

We find Muslims today being disrespectful to their Parents, doing drugs, and drinking intoxicants. The Muslims today are reading Horoscopes believing in Horoscopes, believing in numerology, and palm reading. The Muslims today are even plagued with Zinah (adultery and fornication) of all kinds.

We need to return to the Deen.

Brothers and sisters the Muslims women of today are coming out of there Homes dressed like the woman of the days of Jahiliyah, not wearing the proper Muslim dress. These practices are widespread nowadays, despite the harsh warning of the Prophet (SAW), who said: "Any woman who applies perfume and then goes out among the people so that they could smell her fragrance is a Zaaniyah ( an adulteress)." (Reported by Imaam Ahmad & Abu Musa). And Abu Hurairah (RA) said, that a woman passed by him smelling strongly of scent. He called to her, "O slave of the powerful. Are you going to the mosque?" She said that she was. He said, "Go back and wash it (the perfume) off ". For he heard the Rasoolullah (saw) say, "Any woman who goes to the mosque wearing perfume will not have her prayer accepted by Allah; first she should go back home and have a bath (to wash the perfume off)."

In obeying Allah and His Messenger (SAW) through Qur’an and the Sunnah, we can hope to be of those who are successful, tasting of the fruits of paradise. If however, we should disobey Allah and participate in the Haram, doing those things that are prohibited by Allah and His Messenger(SAW), then we will taste His wrath. In the case of you Ammatallah (The Female Slave of Allah) who does something forbidden by Allah or His Messenger , you and your husband or guardians who permitted you to do that forbidden thing are cursed by Allah. Allah tells in His Qur’an. Bismillahi Rahman Nir Raheem. (interpretation of the meaning the English Translation)

"O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allâh, but do that which they are commanded." (At-Tahrîm aya 6)

So you Abdullah (the male Slave of Allah) are warned about you responsibility as a guardian. As Prophet (SAW) said: "There are three whom Allah will deprive of Paradise: the one who drinks intoxicants, the one who is disobedient to his parents, and the one who accepts immoral conduct on the part of his family." (Reported by Imaam Ahmad). And those scholors of hadith have said that this immoral conduct includes the women of your household being alone with a non-mahram man, or letting them go out without proper hijaab. The Prophet (SAW) also said, "All of you are guardians. The man is a guardian of and is responsible for his womenfolk on the Day of Judgement."

We even find the Muslims of today are now having heated debates on matters of dress be it man or woman. The Ummah today are having heated debates over the growing of the beard. When the Prophet (SAW) left us specific guidance on these matters. We even find today Muslims having heated debates on whether or not the Kufar should even be called Kufar…La hawla wala quwwata illa billah. At no time of Sahaba would we find them acting in the same way as the Muslims of today, Brothers and Sisters we need to return to the Deen.

Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "Verily my Ummah, or the Ummah of Muhammad, will not agree on error and the hand of Allah is upon the community; he who sets himself apart from it will be set apart in the Hell Fire. [Al-Timidhi, Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar, Transmitted Tirmidhi.]

Brothers and Sisters we have to return to the Book of Allah and to the Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and to the way the companions understood and practiced it. If we don’t return to the deen Brothers and Sister Allah will continue to weaken us. Look at how Allah (TA) destroyed so many people of the past who were not rightly guided. But you Ammatullah and you Abdullah Muslims of today have the correct Hudda for those whom choose to follow it. As I close this talk I leave you with one final authentic Hadith. The Hadith which I am sure a lot of us are familiar with. The Hadith of A man who came to the Prophet (ass) and said, "My brother has some abdominal trouble." The Prophet (ass) said to him "Let him drink honey." The man then came back for the second time and said "Ya Rasoolullah it doesn’t work. The Prophet (saw) said, "Let him drink honey." The man then came for a third time and said. "Ya Rasoolullah… I have done that it-Does-Not-Work. The Prophet (ASS) then said, "Allah has said the truth, but your brother's abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey." So he made him drink honey and he was cured.

Brothers and sisters let not your hearts, mind and souls lie, accept what is the truth from Allah and His Messenger (saw). Continue to come to the Masjid for Congregational salat. Continue to make your salat as perfect and as correct as possible. Continue to read and study Al-Qur’an. And continue to practice good deeds of saddaqa. This is want Allah tells us to do not only during the Month of Ramadan, but each and every day that Allah allows us to be in this Dunya. May Allah open our hearts to the correct guidance, and strengthen us that we may be obedient to Him and His Messenger (SAW) and save us from the punishment of Hell fire.

All that I have said that was found to be true and correct is from Allah (swawj) and all that I have said that was found to be false is from Myself and Sahytan, may Allah forever curse him…ameen.

As Salaam Wa Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuhu.
