Call Congress To Condemn The Qana Massacre As A War Crime
Los Angeles, 7/30/06 - The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) today called the attack on an apartment building in Qana Lebanon, filled with civilians, a war crime. The building was being used by civilians as a shelter when Israeli jets bombed the site causing over 50 deaths, 37 of whom were children."The indiscriminate killing and massacre of women and children constitutes a war crime by all standards of law both American and International. We call upon all Americans to contact their representatives to speak out on this crime," said Salam Al-Marayati, the Executive Director of MPAC.
This war crime highlights the importance of calling for an immediate ceasfire. We reiterate the call to our government to step in and halt the continued aggression on the people of Lebanon by the Israeli military.
MPAC calls on all mosques around the country to hold Salat-ul-Ghaib (Prayer for the Deceased in Abstentia) on Monday July 31st during Maghreb (Sunset) Prayer. Al Marayati said "It is essential that the interfaith community come together in this time of tragedy and say loud and clear that the violence must end."
