General Body Meeting To Select Election Committee
A general body meeting was held May 21 for the purposes of selecting an election committee. A quorom of 25% of the members was not met and therefore another meeting will be held. According to section 10.3 of the MAH constitution, the requirement for notice of meetings is a minimum of six weeks for election meetings and annual and four week for other meetings:
Therefore, with the announcement being made on a Friday, the soonest a meeting can be held with the purpose of selecting an election committee shal be July 2nd of 2005. This meeting will not require a quorum as per section 10.5 of the constitution:
After the election committee has been formed, the committee will need to meet. A minimum of five weeks need to pass before an election can be held as per section 13.12 of the constitution:
Shall meet no later than five (5) weeks prior to the election day to prepare a slate of each candidate or more for each vacancy of the Executive Committee or Standing Committee. Such slate shall be mailed to the active members at least thirty (30) days prior to the general membership meeting. Active members may nominate candidates by filing with the Secretary of the corporation either in person or by mail at least twenty (20) days prior to the annual meeting a petition for nomination signed by at least 20 active members, or 20% of the active membership, whichever is less.
Names of candidates nominated by the Nominating Committee, and by the active members, will be mailed to the general membership no later than 10 days prior to the general membership meeting. Other than the 2 elected members of this Committee, the 4 members indicated above shall be automatically discharged when the election is completed and its report is formally presented to MAH secretary for filing."
