Eid ul-Adha 1425

Announcements
The blessed days of Hajj are now upon us. Referring to the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, "There are no days in which good works are more beloved to Allah than these days."
These days are the ideal time to perform your donation for Udhiyah/Qurbani. The Udhiyah/Qurbani is a religious practice performed at the time of Eid al-Adha involving the sacrifice of an animal.

The Companions asked the Prophet (pbuh) where the practice of Udhiyah/Qurbani originated. The Prophet (pbuh) replied, "It is a tradition of your father Ibrahim, and a memorial in his honor." The Companions then asked, "What reward is there for us in it?" The Prophet (pbuh) replied, "For every hair of the animal, a reward is written."

This is the most important celebration in Islam. It takes place on the tenth day of the twelfth and last month (Eid ul-Hijjah) of the Islamic (Hijra) calendar. In 2005 this celebration will start in the morning of the 12th of January.

Eid ul-Adha celebrates the occasion when Abraham (Ibrahim) was willing to sacrifice his son to show his obedience to God (Allah). Muslims all around the world will celebrate this day, although it has particular significance for pilgrims who at this time will be completing a pilgrimage (Hajj) to Mecca (Makkah). The day begins with a sacrifice of an animal in commemoration of Abraham's sacrifce of a lamb in place of his son. One-third of the meat is given to the poor, and the rest shared by family and friends.

Across the world Muslims will wear best clothes and traditional prayers will be said in the morning. Friends and family will visit each other exchanging presents and cards.

Salaat ul-Eid ul-Adha, will be celebrated inshaAllah, on Friday, January 21, 2005, 9 AM at the Manoa Valley District Park.
