Edward Said Passes Away

WASHINGTON, DC, Sept. 25, 2003: This morning, September 25th around 7am, prominent scholar Dr. Edward Said passed away due to pancreatic cancer.
Edward Said\'s tirelessness on Palestinian issues inspired so many. He truly left his mark in this world. In one his articles, Dr. Said once said: \"The vast majority of our people are now thoroughly sick of the misfortunes that have befallen us . . . On the other hand, I have never met a Palestinian who is tired enough of being a Palestinian to give up entirely.\"

The Muslim American Congress-a new entity formed by the merger of American Muslim Council and American Muslim Alliance-is deeply saddened by Said\'s demise, and offers its condolences to the grieved family.
