Profile of an American Muslim in Politics: Candidate for Knoxville City Council

Mostafa Alsharif is a native of Knoxville who wants to bring energy and enthusiasm
to the City Council. He is the son of a University of Tennessee alum and spent
his childhood in Knox County public schools. He attended West Hills Elementary,
Bearden Middle, and Bearden High schools. Mostafa is also a recent graduate
of the University of Tennessee, where he received his BS degree in Chemical
Engineering.
Mostafa became politically active at the University, where he was heavily involved in the Student Government Association. He served as a student senator and as director of Diversity Affairs. Mostafa was also a part of two successful student government presidential campaigns and served on the Ethics Committee during his final semester. Since graduating from college, Mostafa’s dedication to the city of Knoxville and his desire to see positive change in this community has driven his decision to run for City Council Member at Large Seat C.
Mostafa is aimed at establishing effectiveness within the City Council. He believes that the City Council should take a proactive approach to benefiting the citizens of Knoxville in all aspects of their lives. He is prepared to work toward carefully managing Knoxville’s growth, improving schools, and protecting civil liberties. Mostafa is also devoted to the issues of historical and environmental preservation and supporting small businesses.
Mostafa Alsharif wants to make an impact on local politics. He has the drive and the qualifications to serve Knoxville’s citizens with unprecedented aptitude. In essence, a vote for Mostafa for Seat C is a vote for the city of Knoxville.
